Question

As a child’s head grows, it starts to tilt. What should I do? I can feel a noticeable tense muscle, and I want to know what kind of illness this is.

Answer

It is not possible to determine; it is recommended to consult a doctor for further examination. If plagiocephaly is detected early, it is advisable to frequently observe the baby’s head for any lateral or anterior differences. When the difference between the sides is less than 6 millimeters, changing the sleeping position regularly can correct it. If the difference is between 6 and 12 millimeters, it is considered moderate plagiocephaly, and treatment is suggested. If the difference exceeds 12 millimeters, immediate treatment should be initiated. Generally, if a baby’s sleeping position is tilted and shows signs of plagiocephaly exceeding 6 millimeters, artificial correction should be considered.
