Question

What are the symptoms of bilateral facial palsy?

Answer

The main symptoms of bilateral facial palsy include one-sided facial muscle paralysis, disappearance of forehead lines, inability to furrow the brows, incomplete closure of the eyelids. When trying to close the eyes, the affected side’s eye ball rotates upwards and outwards, exposing the white sclera, known as Bell’s phenomenon. The nasolabial fold on the affected side becomes shallow, the corners of the mouth droop, and when showing teeth, it tilts towards the healthy side.
