Question
A one-year-old baby has red rashes on the face, excluding the thigh area. Could this be Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease?
Answer
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is an infectious disease caused by several types of enteroviruses, primarily affecting children under the age of 5. It typically presents with small, millet or green bean-sized blisters or red papules with a red halo around them. These blisters can appear on the inside of the cheeks, tongue, soft palate, hard palate, lips, palms of the hands and soles of the feet, elbows, knees, buttocks, and the area around the genitals of the affected child.
