Question

Yesterday, I visited a friend’s house and saw their newborn baby, who is still very small and usually sleeping. I noticed that the child would often twitch while sleeping. The twitching is not frequent and doesn’t seem painful, and there is no family history of epilepsy. I’m not sure if this could be epilepsy.

Answer

Hello, a child’s twitching during sleep is not epilepsy. Early symptoms of epilepsy may manifest as foolish grinning, involuntary grinding of teeth, randomly smacking the mouth, habitual spitting out saliva, night wandering, suddenly not understanding what others are saying during conversation, suddenly stopping with chopsticks while eating, and even poor memory and sleep disturbances.
