Question
Recently, my child has been crying and fussing frequently. Even after taking them for checks, no issues have been found. I would like to inquire about the normal range for the jaundice index.
Answer
Mild symptoms of physiological jaundice usually only affect the face and neck, but may also spread to other parts of the body. The conjunctiva of the eyes may also appear jaundiced. This condition typically resolves within 2 to 3 days, with the skin color returning to normal on the 5th to 6th day. For some premature infants, jaundice symptoms may last up to 4 weeks. It is recommended to use blue light therapy, which is often effective.
