Question

What should I do if a baby has a slight fever?

Answer

If a baby’s body temperature is below 38.5°C, it can be helped to dissipate heat by drinking plenty of water, usually without any cause for concern. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5°C, fever-reducing medication such as ibuprofen (known as “Merlin” in Taiwan) should be administered. If accompanied by throat inflammation or coughing, additional anti-inflammatory medication may be necessary, and physical cooling methods can also be adopted.
