Treatment Methods for Sore Throat Caused by Tonsillitis in Children
A 7-year-old boy, in elementary school, initially complained of a sore throat. He also noticed that his coughing seemed more severe and he had a persistent low fever.
The primary treatment involves administering symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication based on the child’s symptoms, which can include systemic or regional therapy, such as tonsil crypt irrigation or regional injections. If sore throat is the main symptom, painkillers can be considered, and fever should be managed appropriately. If the child frequently experiences this, surgery may be considered after treatment to prevent recurrence. It is recommended that the child engage in moderate exercise post-treatment to boost immunity and prevent a recurrence.
Antibiotics are commonly used for treating tonsillitis and can be chosen appropriately. Additionally, regional drug sprays or laser therapy can be administered, and painkillers can be given if the child’s throat is particularly sore. If the child continues to have a fever, timely administration of fever-reducing medication is recommended. For temperatures below 38.5 degrees Celsius, physical cooling methods can be used. Apart from these medication treatment methods, if the child frequently suffers from tonsillitis, it is also suggested to consider surgical treatment. Pay attention to a light diet and consume mainly liquid foods during the treatment period.
